Submit

Vitalpoetics is currently accepting submissions of essays, poetry and prose works (see below for details.) All submissions should include a short (150 maximum) biographical note. Please allow between 2-3 months for a response.

Essays

Critical works of between 3000 and 5000 words are accepted. Multi-disciplinary works are encouraged. Though we accept that the area of literary theory is broad, we do advise that we only accept work based on close textual analysis – though this we also accept is a broad methodology. Please submit as word.doc and include a 500 abstract. Please use the following formatting:

  • MLA referencing style
  • Endnotes – not footnotes
  • Double-spaced
  • All non-English texts must have accompanying English translations

We only accept previously unpublished work, and retain first publication rights only (after initial publication work remains the property of the author). All essays are peer-reviewed – this means that we may make suggestions as to how an article could be altered for publication. We expect that these suggestion will be addressed before publication. Re-submissions (of unsuccessful essays) will not be considered unless substantial changes have been made. 

Poetry

We accept poetry submissions of up to three (3) pages.

Prose

We accept short fiction submissions of up to 2000 words (please indicate if submission is part of a larger work).  We do not publish full manuscripts.

Translations

We seek high quality translations of previously untranslated essays, poetry and prose. Submission guidelines described above (for essays, poetry and prose) apply.

All submissions will be chosen for publication at the discretion of the editorial board.  We cannot offer payment for any submissions.
